Jonas Törnquist is Chief Operating Officer of the European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT. As COO, Jonas is responsible for leading the Exchange’s operations and for shaping the commercial services provided to its customers. With over 20 years of professional experience in the energy sector, apart from the Exchange Jonas has worked for utilities, regulators, traders, governments and research organisations. He has a strong international dimension and has lived and worked in France, UK, New Zealand, Australia and Sweden.

Jonas previous experience includes

o A Director in the Strategy and Innovation Division at the Paris headquarters of EDF

o Leading regulatory affairs and the operational readiness to trade gas and power transmission capacity across 20 countries at EDF Trading in London

o Heading the Electricity Transmission team of UK energy regulator Ofgem

o Senior financial analyst at The Treasury of New Zealand, advising the Minister of Finance

o Solar energy R&D for public and private clients at a New Zealand research institute

Jonas was also formerly French representative on Eurelectric’s Markets Committee and Energy Policy and Generation committees; Supervisory Board member of EPEX SPOT and Vice Chairman of the Board at Powernext. He has an MBA in Finance and Economics from New Zealand, a Corporate Finance Program at London Business School and an MSC in Materials Physics from Uppsala University in Sweden. Jonas enjoys travelling the world and spending time with his family. He is passionate about the French art de vivre, including food and wine. Having a positive and curious personality, Jonas enjoys learning new things and challenging himself.
