Increasing value with well branded electricity
Using electricity to transform other commodity products into consumer goods where an ingredient, component or a connected process is branded. Before Intel, ingredients were not branded. The phrase “Intel inside” is know to many of us and increases the likelihood that we buy a particular product. A similar trend can be noted with energy. In the case of car manufacturers that use other commodities in their manufacturing, they are looking to brand the commodity where applicable. For example where electricity is an important ingredient as in the case of aluminum, the focus may be on how those particular ingredients of the car can be branded to the end consumer. For the energy to make the most of this trend, they need to get actively engaged in the branding process. Green branded commodities can achieve a competitive advantage. The ones that succeed could be capitalizing on their brand name by stating for instance: “CleanGreen inside”.
