The purpose of the CHARGE Awards is to increase awareness and highlight the importance of great branding in a rapidly changing energy sector. One way of doing this is to showcase and honour companies that have distinguished themselves with outstanding work within branding and communications, and recognise the achievements of the people behind them.
The CHARGE Energy Branding Awards are the first of its kind. The awards honour forward thinking companies – brands that stand out from their competition and are unique in the eyes of their customers. These companies know how to get their message across and defend their market share through differentiation.
An international panel of experts from within energy, marketing and communications come together to nominate the world’s best energy brands. The panel then looks to customer research and case studies when selecting the winner of each category. The winners will be announced at the CHARGE Awards Ceremony.
A Great Energy Brand?
A good brand stands out from the competition and is unique in the eyes of the consumers. It understands its loyal customers, knows how to communicate its meaning and can defend its market share with differentiation.
At the CHARGE Energy Branding Conference, energy professionals from around the world will gather to witness the announcement of the world’s best energy brands at the CHARGE Awards Ceremony on the evening of September 30th 2019.
This Year’s Finalists
The finalists for the 2019 CHARGE Awards will be announced in early June.
Companies that can be traced back to before the liberalisation of markets or can be considered as established brands in their markets.
Distribution system operators that have created value for their customers through effective branding.
Energy brands that have entered the market since market reforms. This category does not exclude brands that are owned by big players.
Energy brands that use green imagery and sustainability to differentiate their positioning on the market.
Companies responsible for operating transmission networks and have built outstanding brands that communicate to various stakeholders.
The B2B category is for energy brands that generate energy and supply it to businesses who require energy on a large scale for their operations. The focus of their branding, communication and image building is thus towards other businesses rather than individuals.
Products & Innovation
Product brands or innovation initiatives that are related to energy. From tangible products and software to initiatives that are set to spur innovation in the energy field.
Putting the spotlight on brands that further and spread public knowledge on energy and create enthusiasm for the energy sector. We are looking for the best brands in energy among associations, non-profits, academia and institutions.
The CHARGE Awards Panel
The CHARGE Awards Panel consists of professionals with a broad knowledge of the global energy sector, as well as insights into how brands connect with consumers. They come from academia, consultancies, associations, solution providers and marketing and advertising firms. The role of the panel is first to create a shortlist of brands in six categories that have the possibility of becoming finalists for the World’s Best Energy Brands. Finalists are between three to five in each category. The panel will then judge finalists based on cases they turn in for submission.
