eurelectric is the largest association of energy companies in Europe, representing the European Electricity Industry. Koen leads the Corporate Affairs and Strategic Communication activities of the association. Previously, he was managing the European climate and energy unit at eurelectric covering various files, including climate, environmental and renewables policies, carbon markets and power sector innovation.
eurelectric’s mission is to further the development and competitiveness of the sector, providing representation for the energy sector in public affairs and to push the role of the low-carbon energy mix for the advancement of society. The main objectives of the association are to achieve a carbon-neutral electricity mix in the continent well before 2050, ensure an efficient and reliable supply of electricity through an integrated market and developing energy efficiency and electrification of the demand-side to mitigate climate change.
Prior to joining eurelectric, Koen worked as a Business Consultant for Accenture Belgium in Brussels. He holds a master’s degree in business engineering from the University of Leuven.

Her previous positions include serving as the Minister of Justice and Ecclesiastical Affairs and Minister of Justice and Human Rights from 2009-2010. She was the Director of legal affairs in the Ministry of Justice and Ecclesiastical Affair (2002-2008) and head of division in the legal office in the Ministry of Health and Social Security (2001-2002).Ragna held the position senior adviser for the Nordic Council´s Secretariat, Stockholm/Copenhagen (1995 – 1999) and worked as a legal expert for the Parliament of Iceland (1991-1995).
Ragna is currently the chairman of the Icelandic Growth Forum as well as vice-chairman of the Icelandic Red Cross.

Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir is a nonresident senior fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center. From 2013 to 2017, Ms. Árnadóttir was the minister of industry and commerce in Iceland, a position that included a wide portfolio such as energy, industry, tourism, innovation, film industry, design, and commerce. Ms. Árnadóttir was an elected member of Parliament for the Independence Party from 2007 to 2016 and chairman of the party’s Parliamentary group from 2010 to 2012. She held positions in several standing committees in the Parliament, including Committee on Economics and Taxation (2007-09), Committee on Industry (2007-09), Committee on Foreign Affairs (2007-13), and Committee on Business and Commerce (2010). Ms. Árnadóttir was a member of the Icelandic Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly from 2007 to 2013 and served as chairman from 2007 to 2009.
Before she was elected to Parliament, Ms. Árnadóttir served as the political adviser to the minister of finance (1998-2005), the minister for foreign affairs (2005-06), and the prime minister (2006-07). She worked for the Trade Council of Iceland from 1995 to 1998, both in New York as vice commercial counsellor and later as commercial counsellor, and in Reykjavík as project manager. Ms. Árnadóttir served as the executive director of the Icelandic American Chamber of Commerce from 1996 to 1997.
Ms. Árnadóttir graduated from the University of Iceland in 1991 with a BA degree in political science, and an MSFS degree from Georgetown University in 1994. She was invited to attend the Georgetown Leadership Seminar in 2007.
Other professional responsibilities include a membership on the Icelandic Public Sector Wage Negotiation Committee (1999-2005), an alternate member of the board of directors of the Nordic Investment Bank (2002-06), and a member of the board of Iceland Naturally (2005-07) and Iceland Naturally Europe (2006-07). Ms. Árnadóttir was a vice chairman of the board of directors of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformist from 2011 to 2015.
Dounia Alno started her career as a brand consultant for TBWA then Havas, where she developed her expertise in brand strategy related to complex transformations. In 2013, she joined the airport group Groupe ADP where she managed the whole creation and implementation of the Paris Aéroport brand. In 2017, she became Brand Strategy Director at ENGIE. Passionate about brands, Dounia is a graduate from the French business school ESSCA and holds a Master in brand strategy from the CELSA-Sorbonne communications school. Following a PhD in Marketing from the University of Edinburgh, Philip commenced his energy career as Head of Marketing Research and Analysis for the UK based retailing subsidiary of Amoco (BP) and Seeboard (EDF), during the onset of competition in the British retail energy market.
Samuel Enggist is Senior Business Development Manager at tiko Energy Solutions AG. Starting his career at the Swiss Economic Promotion Agency he changed to the energy sector 10 years ago. Before joining tiko he was responsible for sales and marketing at aSwiss-based international energy supplier and was managing a renewable energy investment company. He holds a master’s degree in International Relations of the University of St. Gallen and an Executive Master in Energy Economics FH.
Prior to joining IKEA in Iceland, Guðný Camilla was occupied with sustainability and the environment through her experience in the fields of copywriting, translations, news media and public relations. It is her opinion that a mega brand like IKEA has the capacity to have a real impact on its customers’ daily lives and that sustainability will play an ever-increasing part in the coming years. Sustainability has been an important part of IKEA’s brand heritage and identity. In recent years this has been reflected by IKEA only offering LED lights and providing customers with charge points for electric vehicles outside the store. This is how IKEA – one of the world’s most valuable brands – has indirectly become a part of the energy space. Guðný has studied at the University of Iceland and Copenhagen Business School.
From April 2017, until she joined Icelandair in early 2018, Birna served as Executive Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development for Landsvirkjun. She worked as an executive for the IT company Síminn from 2011, most recently as head of sales and services. Birna worked for Síminn from 2001, starting in public relations and HR. She led Síminn’s Project Management Office from 2006 to 2010 and concurrently managed market affairs from 2009 to 2010 until she accepted the post of executive officer. Birna has served on the board of directors of Skeljungur hf. since 2015 and Já ehf. Since 2017. She served on the board of directors of Farsímagreiðslur ehf., a mobile payment service provider, from 2012 to 2015 and on the board of directors of Gildi Pension Fund from 2014 to 2015.

Prior to North American Power, Mr Brown was the CEO and minority owner of Hudson Energy Services a start-up and fast-growing retail energy provider to commercial and industrial customers in Texas, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. Mr Brown led the effort to sell Hudson to Just Energy in 2010. As part of the Just Energy / Hudson Energy transaction, Mr Brown stayed with the purchasing company for a 3-year period in various executive positions primarily starting and growing Hudson Europe in London.
Prior to Hudson, Mr Brown was the General Manager for Direct Energy Business Services, a leading retail energy provider in North America. Prior to Direct Energy, Mr Brown had a long career at TXU/EFH/Vistra playing a leadership role in establishing their retail energy business serving as their COO. Prior to building TXU’s retail energy division, he held a variety of senior positions in TXU’s regulated utility business, serving TXU (and predecessor companies) for some 28 years.
Mr Brown received his MBA from the University of North Texas and a BS with honors in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr Brown is on the Board at the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and previously served on the Board of ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas).
Albert Albertsson has worked at HS Orka since 1977 and fulfilled the role of deputy CEO for many years. He now acts as the company’s visionary by leading the way in innovation and development, subsequently realising these ideas and putting them into practice at HS Orka.
Mr Albertsson holds an M.Sc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Technical University of Stockholm as well as a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Iceland. He has extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of geothermal exploration and exploitation and is the concept creator of the Resource Park.
The Resource Park is a unique venture and encourages the further development and improved utilisation of the resources provided by power plants. The goal of the Resource Park is a ‘Society without waste’ where all power plant resource streams are utilised responsibly and for the benefit and development of society. Mr Albertsson designed the model for the business cluster at the Park and took an active part in the design and technical development of the Blue Lagoon which is the largest company within the Park.
Mr. Albertsson is also one of the co-founders of the IDDP project, the principal goal of which is to investigate the feasibility of producing geothermal energy from natural geothermal systems where supercritical conditions exist.
Mr Albertsson has developed specific working procedures and tools for measuring capacity and flow characteristics in geothermal wells and was a part of a collaboration with various turbine manufacturers in developing turbine internals especially suited for geothermal application. He also worked closely with Iceland Drilling in developing well design ideas and drilling procedures.
Mr Albertsson has always placed a great emphasis on knowledge dissemination, not only in the diverse field of geothermal utilisation but also in the field of technology and environmental issues. He has spoken all over the world on these topics and has also published a number of papers.
Mr Albertsson was awarded the Order of the Falcon last January for his contribution to geothermal utilisation. The Icelandic Order of the Falcon is the highest honour that the Icelandic state can bestow on individuals, both from home and abroad. The order was founded by King Christian X on the 3rd of July, 1921 to award those who make a significant contribution to Iceland.
Mr Albertsson currently resides on the boards of Renewable Energy Cluster, Icelandic New Energy and DMM Solutions Ltd. He has served on many other boards over the years related to energy and innovation.
Rune has a background as an architect – graduating from Aarhus School of Architecture, Denmark, in 2008. The graduation project (created with the co-founder of Kirt x Thomsen) was a visionary airship concept for transportation of wind turbines which became the kickoff of his career. He has 10 years of experience in the green tech industry. His interest lies in the crossroad between design, business development and future technology.
Prior the co-founding of Kirt x Thomsen in 2011, he worked for Vestas with the KNARR airship project and new innovations in wind. He is also an advisory board member for the Design School Kolding, Denmark.

Sushil is a Guinness World Record holder and Limca record holder for the longest journey on a solar powered electric bicycle. Sushil Reddy started a cause called – The SunPedal Ride – in 2016 to promote solar energy via public interactions, workshops and media outreach in villages and towns in India. With a background as an Energy Engineer, he rode a solar powered electric bicycle across three different countries and more than 11000 kilometres as a part of this cause to promote solar e-mobility. Currently, Sushil is doing Masters in Sustainability and Social innovation at HEC Paris.
The SunPedal Ride is a movement to create awareness about solar energy and clean transportation among the people. There is a need to empower people with solar energy and encourage them to use more of this abundant renewable energy resource. In the summer of 2016, Sushil Reddy undertook an initiative to talk to the people across India about solar energy by touring on a solar powered electric bicycle. With a team comprising of Krunal Tailor, Himanshu Singh and Rajendra Bhaskar, they went on a journey across north-west India passing through 9 states/union territories and 7500 kilometres while interacting with people in the cities, villages and towns on the route. In Sushil’s words – “We plan to take this movement to reach out to as many people as we can and educate people about solar energy and sustainability which is the need of the hour”

Michelin, Renault, Samsung, Paris Airports, Coca Cola, SNCF, Huggies … brands whose mere mention bring to mind a familiar tune. But who’s behind these musical creations that we all know? Michaël Boumendil, President and Chief Creative Officer of Sixieme Son. A musician and composer with a degree in Marketing/Communications, he founded the agency in 1995 and, with it, invented the concepts of musical design and audio branding.
Boumendil’s approach to sound is not about creating ad jingles or licensing popular tracks. It is about creating more distinctive and appealing brands with sound and music. It’s about improving brands’ abilities to stand out, to capture more attention and finally amplify their success.
In 2000, he was honored by the French Prime Minister, who highlighted the hope engendered in many musical designers as a result of the creation of the audio branding and musical design profession.

He has also served as board member of several companies in Iceland.
With extensive experience in brand building in the retail energy space in his management positions at Olíuverzlun Íslands hf (OLÍS) for the last 23 years. He is responsible for all sales activities of the company, both on the consumer and corporate markets. The company currently operates 70 sales outlets nationwide, offering extensive services. This job is highly demanding with all factors of corporate management being put to the test, for example, sales and marketing, operation and finances. A pioneer of energy branding. Fridrik was the first person in the world to present a PhD. dissertation with a focus on energy branding. Fridrik is the CEO of LarsEn Energy Branding, a consultancy working exclusively on branding for companies within the energy space (www.larsen.energy). He has become a leading authority on branding within the global energy sector. Fridrik is passionate about consumer-centric energy markets. He has served on the board of the New York Energy Week and is on the advisory committee for the European Utility Week where he has lead the track on connecting with customers.
Fridrik is a sought out speaker and a consultant on the matters of branding and marketing for the energy space. He works with traditional integrated utilities as well as retailers, DSOs, TSOs and generation companies. He is the founder and chairman of CHARGE.

Inga Dóra Hrólfsdóttir graduated in 1993 as a Civil Engineer from the University of Iceland and has a master’s degree from Chalmers Tekniska Högskola in Sweden. She started working for Reykjavik District Heating, OR‘s predecessor, in 1996. Before taking on the managing role for the utilities, Inga Dóra led departments within OR regarding geographical information systems, constructions and technology.
Roberto Zangrandi is the Secretary-General of EDSO for Smart Grids, the association of the leading European electricity distribution system operators (DSOs). Previously, he has been Special Adviser of EDSO on secondment from Enel Group of Italy since 2015. At Enel, he guided their EU Institutional Affairs office in Brussels between 2007 and 2014. He has also worked as Director of External Relations for Fiat in Frankfurt and gained extensive experience as an economic and financial journalist for various publications.
Mr. Zangrandi has been the founding Chairman of the CSR Managers Network of Italy and held the postgraduate Chair of Public Relations at Udine University, the first to teach the practice in Italy. He studied Political Science and Sociology and holds a Master in International Associations Management from the Solvay Brussels School.
EDSO for Smart Grids gathers leading European distribution system operators (DSOs) for electricity, cooperating to bring smart grids from vision to reality in Europe and is focused on guiding EU RD&D, policy and member state regulation to support this development.
Smart grids are a prerequisite to achieving the EU’s ambitious energy and climate objectivesto 2020 and beyond – decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing energy efficiency and the strongest driver of all, increasing the share of renewable energy connected to our networks.
EDSO and its members are committed to taking on this huge challenge, while at the same time ensuring the reliability of Europe’s electricity supply to consumers and enabling them to take a more active part in our energy system.
EDSO is the key-interface between Europe’s DSOs and the European institutions, promoting the development and large-scale testing of smart grid models and technologies in real-life situations, new market designs and regulation.
As Head, Energy for Google Hardware Partnerships in Canada, Iuliana works with partners to develop customer-focused energy programs that leverage Google Hardware and Nest products. Iuliana Calin is an entrepreneurial leader passionate about how industries adopt technology and innovation. She has 20 years experience in the connected home, smart grid and global marketing & technology. In 2010 Iuliana co-founded SmartGrid Canada, a national industry association, overseeing international partnerships. She negotiated R&D projects between leading global utilities and Canadian universities. She was designated national Champion Speaker and Smart Grid expert by the Government of Canada (Europe, 2014/2016). Prior to this, she led digital media and marketing teams and products for large media and technology companies in Canada and Silicon Valley, USA. Iuliana started her career in advertising at BBDO, Europe. She speaks Romanian, English and French. She holds a M.S. in Communications from Ithaca College & Cornell University, USA. She currently lives in Toronto with her lovely girls and husband.
Stefanía G. Halldórsdóttir is Executive Director of Marketing and Business Development at Landsvirkjun, Iceland’s largest power producer. Before joining Landsvirkjun, Stefanía worked for CCP Games, most recently in the position of General Manager in Iceland, but also as Senior Development Director in the Shanghai office. Before joining CCP Games, Stefania worked in the energy industry for over 10 years, first at the National Energy Authority where she was head of information technology with responsibilities in international projects, and then later in a consulting company focusing on energy solutions and business intelligence. She also served on a European committee for the EU Water Framework Directive and was on the steering group in a Nordic project on Climate Change and Energy Systems.
She is the Chairman of the Board of Icelandic Startups, the software company Tempo, Flow VR, a virtual reality experience company and Almannarómur, a foundation focused on developing language technology solutions for Icelandic.
Stefanía has a M.Sc. in Environmental Science and a B.Sc. in Geography from the University of Iceland.
Starting as a freelance journalist, Nick has worked as a communication and PR professional for corporate, NGO and not-for-profit organisations. He was Communications Manager at Mediawise, Head of Communications and Director of Offshore Renewables at RenewableUK and Communications Expert at the United Nations Development Programme. He is currently Senior Associate at BTP Advisers in London. Nick holds a Masters in Philosophy from the University of Belgrade. His areas of expertise include renewable energy, business and sustainable development.
Statkraft is the largest producer of renewable energy in Europe and develops and generates hydropower, wind power an solar power. Henrik Sætness is head of Corporate Strategy & Analysis, responsible for Statkraft’s long-term market perspectives, both global and market by market, as well as developing the strategy of the company. He has been with Statkraft for almost 10 years, holding various management positions within market operations.
Previously Henrik has been part of the management of an IT company selling systems to the energy industry and almost 10 years with the energy trading business of Norsk Hydro.
Piotr Zawistowski has been in the energy industry since 2000. He started his career in the sector as a power trader at Zakład Energetyczny Legnica and later with EnergiaPro Koncern Energetyczny S.A. In 2007-2008, he actively participated in the inception of EnergiaPro Gigawat, where he became Director of the Analysis and Risk Management Department. From 2008, he was Director of the Portfolio Management Department of TAURON Polska Energia S.A., where he took part in a number of key projects including as Project Manager responsible for the development of TAURON Group’s business model and for the integration of trade functions with GZE (Vattenfall) Group companies.
From May 2014 to December 2015, he was President of the Management Board of TAURON Obsługa Klienta sp. z o.o., and from December 2015 to March 2017, Vice President of the Management Board and Head of Customer Service and Trade with TAURON Polska Energia S.A., responsible among others for the development of TAURON Group’s offer of electricity and gas products. He was also President of the Executive Board of the Association of Energy Trading (TOE) from March 2016 to March 2017 and Member of the Executive Board of the Polish Electricity Association (PKEE). Since September 2017, he has been on the Supervisory Board of the TGE.
Piotr Zawistowski holds an MA in Corporate Management from the Wrocław University of Economics (2002). He completed a post-graduate programme in Sales Management at the Higher School of Banking in Wrocław (2007).
